The Collections of the Universities of Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra

For its XI Annual Meeting – UMAC 2011 – the International Committee of ICOM for University Museums and Collections invites all interested in university museums and collections to come to the Museum of Science of the University of Lisbon next September.
The Conference programme will provide multiple opportunities to share experiences about present and past roles of university collections and museums, as well as opportunities to learn about new challenges and innovative projects about university museums and collections from all over the world.
In 2011, the University of Lisbon celebrates its 100 year jubilee. Participants are most welcome to join the commemorations that will involve all the collections and museums of the University of Lisbon.
Moreover, 2011 marks also the 100 years of the University of Porto. This year, Portugal is celebrating the contribution of universities to the history of knowledge and the role university collections have been playing in the advancement of societies at least since the Renaissance until today. The programme includes several visits to the magnificent museums and collections of the Universities of Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra.
