News from ATHAR in Sharjah
23 October. The ATHAR course on Conservation of Stone and Earthen Structures is taking place in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. 

ICCROM hosts ICOM-CC
23 October. From 21 to 24 October 2009 ICCROM is hosting the combined meeting of the ICOM-CC Directory Board and Working Group Co-ordinators. 

New Director-General of UNESCO elected
15 October. The Director-General of ICCROM, Mr Mounir Bouchenaki, and his staff would like to congratulate Mrs Irina Gueorguieva Bokova for her election by an overwhelming majority as 10th Director-General of UNESCO. As an institution created by UNESCO, ICCROM looks forward to further enhancing the historical ties with UNESCO aimed at preserving our cultural heritage worldwide.

Revitalizing L'Aquila after the earthquake
9 October. Since the devastating earthquake in L'Aquila, Italy in April 2009, ICCROM has been committed to helping protect and restore the area's fragile cultural, architectural and urban heritage. 

ARIS 09 course concluded last week in Rome
7 October. This course is unique from other training courses, since it looks at the conservation of built heritage through the use of high technology documentation tools and easy to use techniques and research. 

Reducing risks to collections in Beijing concluded
1 October. The final part of this three-week course focused on refining the risk descriptions and magnitudes calculated for the case study at the Sackler Museum in Beijing.
